Unless you are hiding under a rock you will have noticed lots of people running around with hearts above their heads, or being chased by little goblins with wings, or seemingly gathering charms of the corpses of their foes. All this is just to show that Love is in the Air - the valentinesk world event is happening. This year it is a longer running event and is hosting a new (or 3 new) seasonal bosses - the Crown Chemical Co. Apothecaries.
What does this mean for WoW in an Hourers (I think about coining that phrase)? Well it means a good way to spend our precious time - in the quest of getting another title, another non-combat pet (or two) and the slim chance at a mount (and working towards getting a nice and tasty drake), and lastly to get out there and see some of those rarer class combinations.
If you have previously done the Love is in the Air world events and got passed up by the RNG (that's Random Number Gods) then there is good news - the level of randomness is markedly decreased and you can get what you need by doing dailies (and killing a few mobs in the process). Here's hoping that my frustrations with the Hallow's End event will see a similar fate. Now in terms of a time investment and the issue with dailies as I discussed last week - well to get everything done, with a little bit of luck, you are only going to have to do the dailies for 2 days (however if you want one of the new non-combat pets you will need to do a further 2 days - you might be able to get away with only one as some of the main quest line gives the Love Tokens too). Additionally the whole event is running for two weeks, rather than the one week seen in previous years - so there is not a lot of reason you can't complete this.
There are a number of guides floating about now and up to date - one thing to remember particularly with the wow databases is that there have been significant changes from last year so there is a lot of residual mis-information about because of that... I guess I noticed this in particular since I play on an Oceanic server and therefore was trying to do some of this before the large percentage of the population has woken up.
Two that I've been looking at:
1. The Lazy Sniper (hi Jaedia!)
2. Wowhead
Two tips:
1. Get to Stormwind/Orgrimmar and start the main quest line asap. It doesn't take long, but you need to get yourself a Lovely Charm Collector's Kit as soon as possible. My prediction is that getting the required lovely charms for the bracelets is going to be the most time consuming thing. However, if you are like me and still doing your Crusader dailies you'll get them from everything you kill there - including when jousting (not the Grand Melee though). Jaedia also suggests that doing the siege in Ulduar will net you a lot of charms too (which coincided with my raid weekly this week, but Love is in the Air started just after I finished the raid).
2. You can trade candies and chocolates - so if you don't have what you need ask guildmates, look in trade etc. That way you should be able to get away with just buying 1 bag of candies and 1 box of chocolates (still need to buy my chocolates but I'm assuming this is the case).
The new seasonal bosses are not quite a cakewalk apparently (I'm yet to do them) - but mainly just requires you to move out of the bad stuff and think a little bit. wow.com has a guide up for it including a video. In addition to the mount and pet and some RP items, they drop Emblem of Conquest equivalent amulets (neck) - I'll be hoping for a DPS one for my ret spec... otherwise they aren't going to be much use for me.
